Social Media, to me, is “all-encompassing.” Let me explain:
By now, most of us in the “Social” Media World (I use ” ” because to me it’s “digital,” not necessarily “social,” since everything in life is technically “social”) understand that what makes this portion of the Integrated Marketing puzzle so effective is that we are basically just taking all of our media and newsworthy content and sharing it with people we think or hope will find it useful. And furthermore, we use the content as a means of engaging in further discussions, forming and building relationships, thus making it “all-encompassing.”
I graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a degree in Marketing, Advertising and English. When I was in college, Facebook was still in the “testing” phase (thankfully the University of Minnesota was one of those “tests.”) And while I studied and learned many different ways to market, advertise, promote and communicate, there were no classes (obviously) on Social Media as part of this Integrated Marketing puzzle.
I feel at home in the Digital Space. I love the environment, the people and the plethora of information I give and receive. But I would like to be even more engaging, interesting and knowledgeable. My biggest Social Media Challenge is finding the best, most advanced and cutting-edge Social Media tools out there. It’s not even just finding them, but also using them to get the most out of Social Media for myself and for my clients.
And at the end of the day, don’t we all want the same thing? A Full Tool Belt!
