It’s official. I have Tweeples in Minnesota! I have been chatting with some of these individuals for quite some time now. Meeting them yesterday was a real treat. Can’t you tell by how engaged I look?!
Here are the wonderful people I met:
Rachel Ryan, Tim Puyleart, Robert Stanke, David Phillips, Joel Carlson and Nicole Harrison.
Rachel Ryan: She loves California. I bet she would come visit next week as soon as I got back. And that would be okay!
Tim Puyleart: His niche is Environmental Health. I know nothing about this. But I have a feeling he is on the up-and-up with merging EHS and Social Media.
Robert Stanke: He loves the Timberwolves. And he was my first “Minnesota Tweeple.” We are currently in cahoots with a Health and Fitness Social Media project. He wrote a great post about the Meetup as well.
David Phillips: Dave told me he works for a man who is a part of Frankie’s Boys from my hometown, at which point I said to him, “that’s my cousin’s band.” Small world.
Joel Carlson: Yes, host and founder of #jectv. He does Social “Twitterviews.” And today he got a live one on me (I told him the Interview may have been more effective if I had some red lipstick on):
Nicole Harrison: Not just another girl in the Non-Profit World. She’s a star! I appreciated her making me realize more about the “value of our brains.” Not to mention, she’s also obsessed with her MAC!
So what was my biggest takeaway from the Meetup? Social Media is not just an addition to add to your Marketing Budget “if there is room.” It’s not “fun money,” it’s “necessary money.” The world in which we live today has made Social Media a forerunner in everything we do – in business and pleasure. As time goes on, the importance of Social Media for business is only going to become more important.
With that, it became clear to me (through what other people were saying) that companies are not only going to WANT what we provide, but NEED what we provide. And in that, we need to remember to charge appropriately for what we deliver. We are not a Non-Profit Service. At the end of the day, I believe “you get what you pay for.” If you are competent and think what you provide is of value, then you make them understand your charges are WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Finally, I learned that having Minnesota Tweeples is extremely important to me! As I mentioned before, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.”
