Aspiring Digital “Diva”

I am an Aspiring Digital “Diva.”

And not because I’m even remotely close to being the best digital savvy individual out there.

And not because I’m a “Diva.”

Did you listen? I said this was an aspiration. (Listen = She Who Must Obey)

But let’s consider 3 people I feel ARE “Digital.”
a. Pete Cashmore of Mashable
b. Amy Jo Martin of Digital Royalty
c. Peter Shankman of HARO

And then let’s consider 3 people I feel ARE “Diva.”
a. Beyonce
b. Whitney Houston
c. Oprah

Now, here is why I am an Aspiring Digital “Diva.”

I aspire to be all-things digital. I am nowhere near the 3 “Digital” individuals I mentioned. But they are as successful as they are today because they started somewhere in the digital space. They were consistent, persistent and provided valuable information to their followers, clients and fans. They mastered the art of listening, which lead to the mastery of online networking. And then they took it offline and sealed their digital badges with recognition, massive followings and widespread admiration.

(Diva = An operatic prima donna.) And the Wikipedia says that a prima donna is Italian for “first lady.” Now again, I am nowhere near the 3 “Diva’s” I mentioned. But these women are or were all considered “first ladies,” too. They share a common denominator of Influence. They stand out (or stood out) from anyone else in their industry for a reason. I aspire to have my own “influence.”

I am an Aspiring Digital “Diva.” I want to be a leading lady influencing passionately behind all things digital, innovative, inspiring and effective. I won’t need a crown, or pink or jewels. I won’t even need to necessarily “look” the part. After all, I did say “passionately behind all things….”

Dog with diva bowl, sniffing floor

(But for the record let me say this….proceed with caution when trusting anyone who claims, boasts or brags they are a “true” Digital Diva. Too many individuals are beginning to claim this, when in fact only a few truly are! You know who are….KUDOS!)
